Torrequebrada Golf on the Costa del Sol

Torrequebrada Golf Club

Torrequebrada Golf Club is located right on the coast between the resorts of Fuengirola and Benalmadena on the Costa del Sol.

This course opened in 1979, a Pepe Gancedo designed masterpiece which is recognised as one of the most beautiful and well established courses on the Costa del Golf.

The Spanish Open was held on the Torrequebrada golf course in 1977.

The Torrequebrada golf course is not long at around 5763 meters from the yellow tees, but the overall design and layout will prove to be a challenge for every level of player.

Don’t be fooled by the short 80 metre length third hole, distance here should not be confused with the word easy, the late great Seve Ballesteros scored a seven here !!.

The course cleverly  hugs the contours of the hills which test golfers at every stage, add to that an array of water hazards, dog legged fairways and well placed bunkers. It is a good test of skills for players of all levels with the tee shot here being of prime importance.

Wild drives will lose you balls in the trees and woods, and the rough, bunkers and water hazards are all very much in play at all times.

Torrequebrada golf was reputed to have been one of Bing Crosby,s favourite courses, Miguel Angel Jimenez practised hitting many a ball here at the old practice range where his father worked, his brother is to be found most days teaching at the practice range.

Although a lot of development has taken place around the course which inevitably has taken away some of the views, this course still manages to retain its intimacy amongst the hundreds of established trees which align and border every hole.

Torrequebrada has a neat  little driving range set amongst the trees,  the practice area has  recently undergone a facelift and offers a chipping area and two bunkers to brush up on your sand play. You can also book private lessons from the very competent Pro, Jorge who now aptly runs the range and academy.

Overall if you don’t mind paying that bit extra we would highly recommend a round at the impressive Torrequbrada Golf. Buggy’s are recommended although not compulsory.

The club house as recently been taken over by a new catering company which offer good meals, snacks and drinks on the large picturesque terrace overlooking the 18th green and surrounding countryside.

If you are a group of golfers and planning a golf trip to the Costa del Sol including Torrequebrada Golf  Resort then  you will almost certainly  be better off with your own private transfers to and from the airportand your chosen courses during your trip.

We specialise in arranging  golf transfers  to any of the 60 or more golf courses on the Costa del Sol.  We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your resort, unlike some other companies  you  will  do not charge for excess luggage or golf clubs.
