La Reserva de Sotogrande on the Costa del Sol

La Reserva de Sotogrande Golf Club

La Reserva de Sotogrande one of the most prestigious and finest golf resorts in Spain let alone the Costa del Sol.

Located within the prestigious Sotogrande golfing valley, home to some great courses including Valderrama.

While not as old as some of the others, it certainly does not hold back in character and design. Opening in 2003, La Reserva de Sotogrande Golf Club is situated amongst some truly beautiful natural environment on the Costa del Sol.

With the green rolling hills, the mountains in the background, and tremendous views of the sea, you will be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful golfing resort than this one.

The clubhouse features a traditional Andalusian design which can be enjoyed by both members and non-members. While La Reserva de Sotogrande is considered an exclusive resort, non member visitors are welcome to enjoy its amenities.

The resort’s Clubhouse has some interesting characteristics such as a small English bar, several dining rooms, a meeting room and TV room, and a fitness centre. There is a lovely terrace with an impressive view of not only the course but also of the surrounding area.

The clubhouse decor plays off of the traditional Arabic style with five multifunctional rooms and two fireplaces. Members and non-members are separated in the use of amenities such as locker rooms and the Turkish baths.

The golf course at La Reserva de Sotogrande golf course was designed by Cabell Robinson built to USGA standards. Great pains were taken in the construction of the course to preserve the natural environment of the area. In fact, many indigenous trees were dug up, stored during construction of the course, and then replanted where they had previously been. In this way the course was able to preserve a native feel to the landscaping while at the same time being able to plan very carefully for the placement of trees and other course shaping features.

La Reserva is a rather long course at around 6.448 mts. The fairways are wide with lots of slopes and hills. There are over six holes that contain water hazards although none of them are particularly difficult. Visitors are warned to be ready for the 15th hole since the views there are fantastic.

All in all, La Reserva de Sotogrande is one of the best courses on the Costa del Sol and well worth paying that little extra when you come to booking your golf package to the Costa del Sol.
