Guadalhorce Golf on the Costa del Sol

Guadalhorce Golf is located just 10 minutes from the Malaga airport.

Guadlahorce Golf Resort is one of the oldest golf clubs on the Costa del Sol and boast are large membership mainly from the local area of Malaga. Miguel Angel Jimenez can often be seen practising here.

A family run club, the course is set in the picturesque Guadalhorce valley  and offers  offers extensive facilities not only for golfers but for visiting family members who may wish to chill out by the pool, play tennis or enjoy a sauna.

Guadalhorce is a mix of hilly and parkland areas which makes the course both easy and challenging. The back nine is very flat and overall the course is very walk-able and advised. Not many players use buggy’s here.

If you enjoy playing flatter courses then Guadalhorce is the place for you and makes a pleasant change to the more challenging hillier courses on the coast. The fairways are wide and quite easy to find and the undulating greens make putting as complicated or as much fun as you care to make it.

The club house area is quite beautiful and is similar to the old colonial mansions and bodegas of Seville and Jerez. This golf resort is well established and the abundance of many kinds of old well established trees including some very tall date palms and shrubs makes the whole course very picturesque.

The course is located at the end of the main runway leading into Malaga airport. Depending on what day you play the noise from the many aircraft landing and taking off can be off putting if not spectacular.

Although not located along the main Costa del Golf route, Guadalhorce golf has become very popular with visiting golf groups as it offers extremely  good value with  the  extra saving as buggy’s are not required.

Due to the large membership though visitor tee times are limited to 08.30 and 12.00 Monday to Friday, weekends are exclusively for members, it is advisable to book tee times well in advance as part of your golf package to the Costa del Sol. The best high season tee times are at a premium and are sold out months in advance so booking early is a must.

For after  round drinks and relaxation the bar terrace is located within the stunning historic club house, the terrace area is a perfect  place to chill out and try a selection of tasty Spanish tapas.
