Alcaidesa Golf Club

Alcaidesa Golf Resort

Alcaidesa Golf is located on the Western tip of the Costa de Sol with stunning backgrounds of the sea featuring the Rock of Gibraltar and the coastline overlooking the Mediterranean sea with the mountains of northern Morocco in the distance. It is home to two championship golf courses, the most popular Links and the newer Heathlands course.

The Links Course

Even though Alcaidesa Golf is relatively new, having been originally opened in 1992. The original links course received a complete remake and redesign in 1999 to improve its ease of play and to enhance its overall design features.

Many  should include at least one round on the famous Alcaidesa Links golf course.

The links course follows a more or less triangular design with the first four holes heading out toward the sea, the next several holes following the beach and coastline and the last 4-hole directing you back toward the resort areas.  Many of the fairways are hilly and provide a unique character to the experience.

When the wind is blowing from the beach and coastline it can can make the round quite demanding for the higher handicapped players during the winter months.

The links course has hosted several noteworthy PGA tournaments such as the Spanish Open and the the Ryder Cup Junior Match vs Europe in 1997.

The Heathland Course

In 2007, Alcaidesa inaugurated the newer Heathland course which really exploits the local terrain of the resort making good use of the undulating hills, gulleys, and natural creeks as water features.

The renowned golf course designer, Dave Thomas, responsible for many fine golf courses on the Costa del Sol. He has used well the character of the area to enhance the natural atmosphere of the site.
