Malaga Parador Golf Club

Malaga Parador Golf was the first links course on the Costa Del Sol and the oldest having been started in 1929.

It all started with a primitive nine hole course which was later expanded to 18, recently a further nine holes have been added which provides golfers a choice of three nine hole combinations.

After almost 70 years the installations are still maintained to high standards and the Malaga Parador Golf course is as good to play as ever and is one of the  most emblematic golf courses on the Costa del Sol.

It is probably the most popular course with the regular local golfer due to its position close to Malaga and for being noted as excellent value for money , specially the annual memberships which are always great value.

On the same hand though it is probably underrated by the golfing tourist which tend to pay the more well known courses along the rest of the Costa del Sol.

Having said that the Malaga Parador Golf course is well recognised championship course, used as the venue for numerous PGA tour competitions including the Andalucian Open on various occasions due to its design, length and standard. At around 6,000 meters from the yellow tees it plays long for most mid handicapper and getting to the green in two shots on some of the long Par 4s for most players is quite a challenging. Having said that the flat open fairways are forgiving for the higher handicap players and welcoming to the beginner. This course allows players to open up with their drivers without the worry of losing to many balls.

There is no short Par 3, the shortest is the 150 Meter 13th. And the hardness of the bunker sand maybe a little disappointing for most players.

The greens have been steadily improved over the past few years and the course is flat so can be walked , due to its age the course has a pleasant natural maturity about it and well worth playing at any time during the year.

Due to high membership the course is generally a very busy so take care to book a tee time in advance when possible. If you are planning to book your golf package to the Costa del Sol a round or two at the Parador Golf Club is a must.
